Success Story: Operating Model Implementation
Leveraging lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, a global mining client sought our support to evaluate the pandemic’s impact on remote working models. A few key learnings on the benefits that an effective remote working model can convey are:
- Improving the cohesiveness between geographically separated locations (e.g. site locations and head office functions).
- Creating organisational improvements from a more connected, empowered, and autonomous workforce.
- Generating individual health and wellbeing benefits of partial working from home through less travel time or less time overnighting at site locations.
It is noteworthy that simply changing an individual’s location to remote working doesn’t achieve the above, indeed it will likely have only hindered the client. Our team assisted to define the successful model, with supporting management frameworks, helping to strike the right balance for the client to realise tangible benefits continuously and sustainably.
