Paul Gassman

Paul Gassman has a 25-year career which has been distinguished by his success in expense management, financial management, technology implementation, process improvement and product development at many of the largest global financial services organizations.

Paul has been leading financial services firms to implement a sustainable efficiency management framework. This framework is based on a comprehensive approach of organizational efficiency alignment to business strategy, integrated demand and supplier management, governance, expense transparency and financial planning & analytics. In addition to applying this discipline across all expense categories, Paul is the pioneer of applying the framework to Brokerage, Clearing and Exchange Expenses with his practices and discipline having been adopted as a core function at most major Investment Banks.

From 2013 to present, Paul has been helping global financial institutions develop a disciplined approach to expense efficiency, financial transparency and organizational transformation.  In addition, he has assisted organizations to execute specific category initiatives associated with market data, brokerage, clearing and exchange fees and contingent labor, to name a few.

From 2008 to 2013, Mr. Gassman served as Citigroup’s Managing Director and Global Head of Expense Management for Citigroup’s Institutional Client Group (ICG) where he partnered with senior business management to execute more than $1 billion in expense efficiency initiatives across ICG’s $20 billion expense base.

Prior to Citigroup, Mr. Gassman functioned in similar positions at Credit Suisse and Lehman Brothers, achieving similar levels of success. He has also consulted financial services firms and global exchanges and provided project oversight of trading technology deployment, led project management offices for technology implementation at clients including global exchanges and global investment banks. He has also held product development management positions for asset management, private banking and insurance businesses and led business integration during company mergers.

Throughout Mr. Gassman’s career, he has developed a unique set of skills in Financial Services Products, Operations and Technology, Financial Management, Product Development and Expense Management that are necessary to drive efficiency and lower operating costs.
