Job description

We are seeking a Consultant/Senior Consultant with a Financial Services background, preferably in the insurance or banking industry, to join our team in Hong Kong as an Operational Risk Consultant. Our projects are focused on delivering Risk and Regulatory solutions across domains. 

As a Senior Consultant, you will play a key role in building our operational risk expertise and ensuring the quality of our delivery to maintain market-leading practices for our Hong Kong office, considering the global nature of our organization and clients. 

Main responsibilities of the position: 

  • Participate in projects with leading insurers and banks to provide operational risk management solutions 

  • Offer Risk and Compliance advisory services to clients 

  • Conduct regulatory compliance reviews and implementations, internal control reviews, and other independent assessments as required by regulatory requirements 

  • Be hands-on and contribute to the successful execution of client projects. 

  • Assist in the development of new intellectual property, including leading-edge research on white papers, supporting the development of marketing materials, and publishing articles 

  • Work closely with our other offices and leverage our global network to take part in cross-selling initiatives and share our knowledge widely. 

More experienced candidates will have these additional responsibilities:  

  • Independently drive the success of a work stream by directing activities, ensuring high quality deliverables, and timely submissions 

  • Managing a team of consultants by defining meaningful work packages, managing activities, and close mentorship  

  • Participate in business development activities including content development, proposal preparation, and sales presentations 

  • Share consulting best practices with the team 

Specific areas of expertise: 

Ideally, you would have project experience and knowledge in one or more of these areas: 

  • Risk & Compliance advisory 

  • Extensive experience in operational risk management within the banking and/or insurance industries, including market, credit, and liquidity risks 

  • Proficiency in information technology risk management, particularly as it relates to operational risk 

  • Deep understanding of internal controls and framework for mitigating operational risk 

  • Experience with HKMA Independent Compliance Assessment on credit, interest, liquidity, operational, and technology risk management, with a specific emphasis on operational risk 

  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements, such as HKMA and SFC rules, AML/KYC, Basel III/IV, cybersecurity, data privacy, RegTech, etc., with a strong focus on operational risk management. 

Qualifications

Key Requirements: 

  • University graduate or above in accounting, business, information technology or related disciplines. 

  • 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in operational risk and regulatory within a reputable consulting firm. Candidates with experience in the insurance and banking industries are encouraged to apply. 

  • Familiar with HKMA and/or SFC regulations 

  • Holder of professional qualifications such as CPA, CFA, FRM, CAMS, CISA, CISSP, CIA and/or other related qualification is an advantage. 

  • Good project management and stakeholder management skills 

  • Strong interpersonal, logical and analytical skills 

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision 

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills with clients and colleagues 

  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit and team leadership skills 

  • Excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese. Fluency in Mandarin is an advantage.
