Sia Partners launches its investment fund Studio and announces its first start-up, Big Moustache

Sia Partners, a leading independent international consulting firm, announces the launch of its investment fund, Studio.

With 3 million euros and Sia Partners as the sole stockholder, this investment fund will accompany select start-ups over the next three years, through their incubation and acceleration periods. Studio targets investment tickets of approximately 500,000€ for a 25-45% stake in companies in a range of industries.

 

Matthieu Courtecuisse, founder and CEO of Sia Partners, states: “For several years, we’ve been involved in a number of different corporate ventures. Sia Partners is a consulting firm with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, and it seems natural for us to continue further in this ecosystem, creating our own investment fund—a start-up in itself. We’d like to invest in companies in which we can bring a significant added value, where we can best use our expertise to help these start-ups grow.”

 

Studio’s first investment is Big Moustache, giving it a capital increase of 500,000€. Also participating is Day One Entrepreneurs & Partners (formerly L’Accélérateur), which previously financed the start-up.

 

Big Moustache is an e-commerce site for men’s shaving products, where consumers receive all materials for their shaving needs on a monthly basis. “According to our research, e-commerce in the beauty and cosmetic industry expects a significant growth from now until 2020,” says Courtecuisse. “Big Moustache proposes a wide range of products in an innovative fashion, and it has already developed a unique brand image and gathered a substantial following in France. By bringing Sia Partners’s resources and expertise in commercial and marketing strategy to the table, we have all the ingredients to make this adventure a successful one, multiplying the number of clients by four or five over the next two years.”

 

Nicolas Gueugnier, Big Moustache founder, states: “At this stage in development, it was indispensable to find an investor who could bring us more than just financial support. With Sia Partners, we are able to tap into a pool of resources and knowledge as well as a strong network with well-established companies. It is a new, fresh start for Big Moustache! Together, we plan to continue this journey as a brand of reference in the French market, with a disruptive model in our communication and distribution. I am also happy to continue working with Day One, which has been with me since the first day of this project, and has contributed immensely with its entrepreneurial talents.”

 

Matthieu Courtecuisse (Sia Partners CEO) and Elsa Martineau (Supervising Senior at Sia Partners) will be participating board members of Big Moustache’s steering committee.

 

 

STUDIO, THE INVESTMENT FUND

A start-up studio relies on financial and human capital. Studio by Sia Partners will allow start-ups to benefit from the group’s expertise, acquired by working with larger companies and networks, as well as with other start-up ecosystems. These start-ups will be able to pull from Sia Partners’s know-how in both industry and function (marketing, revenue modeling, logistics, etc.). In addition, depending on the context, they could be incorporated in the Sia Partners structure, permitting them to use the offices as well as recruitment resources.

 

The selected start-ups will be from various industries and in differing stages of development (incubation, acceleration, shift, turnaround) and must be from one of the 15 countries in which Sia Partners has offices.

 

The fund is directly overseen by Sia Partners’s partnership, and is bonded to the group’s own funds. There is no predetermined term of ownership.

 

Each start-up will be followed by a dedicated team of consultants (up to ten according to the start-up’s project phase).
